Magic Planet was a wonderland, truly one of a kind in the world. My admiration for Gopinath Muthukad, the renowned magician, was one of the reasons I longed to visit this magical realm. I had been dreaming of a trip to Thiruvananthapuram, including Magic Planet, for quite some time. When my friend Sajjad offered to make all the arrangements, my dream trip became a reality.
Magic Planet offered a captivating array of shows and attractions from 9:30 AM to 5 PM. There was no need to wander aimlessly, as numerous staff members were readily available to guide us through the enchanting world. Just as I was trying, in vain, to make a grumpy-looking visitor crack a smile, the welcome dance began, signaling the start of our magical journey.
We were ushered into the Intimate Dance Hall, a cozy space with a capacity of 50 people. The shows were conducted in batches, ensuring an intimate and immersive experience for everyone. My son was invited on stage, and the magician pulled a ball out of his nose, much to his amusement. The memory of that trick still brings a smile to my face.
From there, we witnessed mind-boggling mirror magic, balloon magic, and paper magic before heading to the Tempest Theater. The Tempest, a Shakespearean play, was reimagined as a spectacular show incorporating magic, dance, music, lights, and sound. It was a truly magical experience that left us spellbound.
Next, we entered the Circus Castle, where we were treated to an hour of captivating circus performances. The balancing act by an Ethiopian artist was particularly impressive, showcasing incredible skill and agility. We then moved on to the Comedy Magic show, which had us in stitches for half an hour.
By then, it was 1:30 PM, and we took a half-hour break for lunch. The hotel within Magic Planet offered a sumptuous buffet with a wide variety of dishes. After lunch, we attended the Mentalist Show, where the performer seemingly read the minds of the audience, leaving us amazed and bewildered.
The next show, M Power, was a special magic show performed by children with developmental disabilities. Trained by Muthukad himself, these talented youngsters received thunderous applause for their heartwarming performance.
The Illusion Show, the grand finale, took place in the largest auditorium. It was a mesmerizing spectacle, a replica of Muthukad's magic show, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.
Outside, near a structure resembling India Gate, a show celebrating India's diversity through dance and magic unfolded. The Indian Rope Magic act brought the shows to a close. Finally, everyone joined in a grand procession, marking the end of our magical journey at Magic Planet.
At 5 PM sharp, the day's events concluded, and we reluctantly left Magic Planet, our hearts filled with wonder and joy. It was a day we would cherish forever, a testament to the power of magic and the boundless creativity of the human spirit.
